Upcoming Training

Monday, May 11 marks the start of training for MyEdBC.  We're excited to see the project finally off the ground and are looking forward to seeing everyone in training.

Fasten your seat belts!

All of the training links have been sent out via email.  If you haven't received a private link as part of a targeted group to sign up for an eReg session, contact Kirsten Bonn. (Kirsten.bonn@sd23.bc.ca 250-870-5000 X 4290).

In MyEdBC you can reset your own password, no more phone or e-mailing every 90 days!

New Information for Office Staff

Validation of address information in BCeSIS prior to conversion is strongly recommended to facilitate a better post-conversion experience. One of the issues with converted data in MyEdBC is around data validation for addresses:
  1. Addresses must adhere to all Canada Post conventions. https://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pg/manual/PGaddress-e.pdf
  2. The data conversion is not case-sensitive (upper and lower case irrelevant).
  3. There must be a space in the Postal Code. (V1V 1V1)

About Our Team

The face of your implementation team is Rachael Clarke, Jessica Ewings, Jacki Stabb, Crystal Drachenberg and Blair Hope.  We have many behind the scenes members whose contribution has been second to none.  Projects of this size always require organization-wide cooperation and teamwork so a big thank-you in advance to everyone involved.  Embracing change and maintaining a positive attitude are the things that will set us apart and help us to succeed as we forge ahead with our new student information system.

Our most recent team member is Rachael Clarke.  Rachael has a Bachelor's degree in Business and comes to us from a position in Victoria.  She has worked in our District previously and has been an amazing addition to our team.  She is organized and conscientious and has worked tirelessly finalizing the details of the training schedule and contributing to course scope and sequence.  Fun facts about Rachael:  She has a great sense of humour and loves her West Highland Terrier, Archie.

About the Teacher Trainer Model

During the implementation of MyEducation BC, the training model for teachers is somewhat different than that of other district roles. It is essential to have educators involved in the support and training of educators, and equally important to have a support structure in place for all interested teacher trainers. We would like to thank those teachers who have shown interest in supporting and leading teachers through the MyEducation BC implementation.

Below is a brief overview of the teacher trainer model.

  • Elementary teacher trainers to receive an orientation to attendance, seating plans, gradebook and reporting on May 25, 26, 27 or 28.
  • Secondary teacher trainers to receive an orientation to attendance, seating plans, gradebook and reporting on June 22, 23 or 24.
  • All teacher trainers to receive opening day training materials and review attendance, seating plans, gradebook and reporting.
  • On afternoon of opening school day, teacher trainers will deliver a 90 minute orientation which will introduce attendance, seating plans, student demographics and resources for the gradebook.
  • On September 18, teacher trainers will deliver a two hour in-depth session on gradebook and reporting.
  • Prior to the first reporting period, teacher trainers will be provided release time in order to provide on-site support for teachers.
